There is a need for donated blood to save the lives of cancer patients.  Patient advocates say one in eight women will develop breast cancer.

During chemotherapy and radiation both cancer cells and healthy cells are destroyed, so  blood transfusions are vital.

The Oklahoma Blood Institute is teaming up with the Susan G. Komen Foundation for the cure.  Organizers are asking donors to "open their arms" to fight breast cancer.

"There's very few people in this world unfortunately who haven't been impacted by breast cancer and I think everyone wants to know how they can help," said Anne Bogie, a breast cancer survivor.

Any donor who gives blood to O-B-I in the next two months can instead of accepting a t-shirt, have a contribution made toward finding a cure.
