BA Historical Museum Set To Open

A hundred years of Broken Arrow history will be on display in a few days.  The News On 6's Rick Wells reports the new Broken Arrow Historical Museum will open on Wednesday with an exhibit on veterans.

Pictures have been gathered from Broken Arrow and area vets along with the many articles they've been accumulating since the historical society began in 1975.

The historical society has had a small facility, but never enough space to display all they had.

"Most of its been in boxes and in storage you just can't get it all in there that's why this is so important," said Gary Gerber of the Broken Arrow Historical Society.

The new facility is a $2.3 million project paid for by a 2004 bond issue and some added Vision 2025 funds.

The final look of the main gallery will be on the second floor is still being planned.

There is fund raising left to do, the immediate focus is on the veterans exhibit that will give the public its first look at the museum.

The Historical Museum opens Wednesday morning at 10. The veteran's exhibit will run through the end of May, then the museum will close for the summer to complete work on the other galleries.
