OHP Trooper Helps Deliver Baby

Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper Lt. Shawn Bankston made a special traffic stop Sunday evening on Interstate 44 in Oklahoma City.  

At around 6:45 p.m. Sunday, OHP trooper Bankston helped deliver a baby girl on the side of the highway.

Stacy and Lawrence Wright were on their way to an Oklahoma City hospital when they realized they were not going to make it in time. The couple pulled over to the side of the road and Lt. Bankston stopped to help. With the baby already crowning, the delivery went very quickly and smooth, said Bankston.

Baby Lauralei and mother are doing well.

This is the Wrights' fourth child.
