Del City is planning a memorial to the victims of the May 3, 1999 tornadoes.

That memorial is almost complete.  Officials say it will be a granite plaque that lists the names of the seven civilians and one airman who died during rescue efforts in Del City.

More than 50 tornados ravaged the state nine years ago.  The city of Moore was the worst hit. Several Moore neighborhoods and a Stroud outlet mall were destroyed.

Those same storms also caused damage in west Tulsa.  In all, the tornadoes on May 3, 1999, killed 44 people.
