Church School Principal Accused Of Rape

A church school principal in Tulsa faces second degree rape charges.  The News On 6's Ashli Sims reports the principal at Bible Fellowship School is out on a $25,000 bond.  He's 26 and accused of having sex with a 17-year-old student.

Even if the sex was consensual, legally that doesn't matter.  If it was an affair between a 17 year old and her neighbor, it wouldn't be against the law.  But, the law is clear, when it comes to sex between school employees and students:  it's rape.

Bible Fellowship is a small church school on the west side of town.  Tyrell Brewer once charged with leading the school is now charged with having a sexual affair with a 17-year-old student.

According to police reports, all four sexual encounters happened on school grounds. The affidavit says the first time it happened was after school. The other encounters happened before school hours.

The teen told police it all began on April 30th, when a play fight turned into fondling.  In the affidavit, she says she was shocked, but didn't tell [her principal] to stop.  According to the affidavit, the two had sex in a second floor room.

The 17 year old told police that two days after the first encounter, she came to school early around 6 o'clock in the morning.  She says Brewer met her 20 minutes later and they had sex again.

The report says Brewer got dressed because students would be arriving soon.  The girl also got dressed and went to class.

She told police the pattern of coming to school early to have sex with her principal repeated itself, two more times that same week.  In the end, the girl told police she felt guilty about the relationship and told her sister.

Brewer was arrested last Saturday and has been charged with second degree rape.

According to police, 26-year-old Tyrell Brewer was hired as Bible Fellowship's principal in 2007.  He's now on paid administrative leave.  Calls by The News On 6 to the pastor at Bible Fellowship Church have not been returned.
