Crews Search For Possible Drowning Victim

Edmond firefighters spent Wednesday morning searching Arcadia Lake for a person who went underwater while swimming with a group of friends.

Emergency crews were on the scene at Edmond's Spring Creek Park. Two people came out of the water and crews launched a rescue boat to search for a third person.

Edmond Fire Chief Tim Wheeler said a man reported to park officials shortly before noon Wednesday that a member of their party disappeared while swimming in the Spring Creek area of the lake.

Authorities said the group went outside the designated swimming area in an inflatable raft. The missing swimmer left the boat to swim ashore and has not been since, authorities said.

The swimmer has been identified as a 17-year-old male.
