Some Await Weatherhead Repairs

The utility has restored service from weekend storms, but that doesn't mean everyone can turn the lights back on, at least not yet.

The threat of severe weather comes as many people are still cleaning up after the last round of storms.  Power was knocked out to 68,000 PSO customers after weekend storms.  News On 6 anchor Craig Day reports the utility has restored service, but that doesn't mean everyone can turn the lights back on, at least not yet.

John Brock loves to work in the yard, but even he says this year is getting ridiculous.  Many tree limbs not downed by the December ice storm were finished off when severe spring storms rumbled through the area.

"Spring storms took care of the rest.  We were wondering, this tree back here, how we were going to get rid of it, but mother nature took care of that," said John Brock.

The latest round of damage left Brock with a lot to cleanup at his Jenks home.  To make matters worse, when a tree crashed to the ground in his backyard, it snagged the power line going to his house.

"It snapped this line here.  Just took it completely down," said John Brock.

The downed line damaged the weatherhead in the process.

"The first two nights were kind of difficult, but once you get used to it, it might have been three o'clock before I fell asleep.  It was that uncomfortable," said John Brock.

So even though PSO crews have finished their repair work, the family has been without power for four days.

No electricity means no air conditioning.  With hot weather this time of year in Oklahoma, that's no fun.   By mid-day the temperature inside the home is 79 degrees and it gets much hotter as the day goes on.

"During the day, I'm probably sure it's up in the 90s," said John Brock.

Brock says an electrician is expected soon to fix the damage.  Meanwhile, he'll keep cleaning up damage and will hope we don't get any more bad weather.

Although it isn't near like it was after the ice storm, many electricians are still busy right now helping people with spring storm damage.
