They say oil and water don't mix and gasoline and water is also a bad idea too.

Three Tulsa drivers were the unwilling recipients Thursday at a Conoco station at 21st and Columbia.  It happened Thursday morning.

News On 6 reporter Steve Berg reports usually your car won't start when you run out of gas.  Several motorists discovered their cars wouldn't start when they filled up with gas.

Turns out there were more than just gas though in their vehicle's tanks.  Somehow water got into one of the station's underground storage tanks.  And from there it got into the vehicles of three customers.

Lou Kachigian filled up her BMW Roadster, got in, and immediately it failed to start.  At first, she thought it was some pre-existing problem with the car. Then she saw a second motorist, Damiyon Everly couldn't start his car.

"So then we were waiting for AAA and roadside service for Damiyon and then, boom we got a 3rd car and so we thought, this is just not right," said Lou Kachigian.

The owner of the station tells the News On 6, he will take care of all three customer's repairs.  He says they are not sure yet how the water got into the underground storage tank.

The thing that really confuses him though is that there is a filter on the gas pumps that "should" turn off the pump if water tries to go through.

For some reason, that filter switch didn't work.
