A Supreme Court decision could prevent Oklahoma from executing convicted child rapists. In a five to four vote, the court struck down a law that allowed for such executions in Louisiana.
Oklahoma's law would have allowed the death penalty for anyone convicted two or more times for sex crimes against children.
Oklahoma is one of only four other states that had approved the death penalty for certain sex crimes.
Supporters of the original bill now plan to rewrite it in an effort to keep the death penalty for child predators.
