An investigation is underway into a credit union scam in Bartlesville.
66 Federal Credit Union warns residents that a fraudulent entity has been calling random local phone numbers, members and non-members alike, in a "vishing" attempt. Vishing is a combination of voice and phishing, where the caller typically uses landline telephone services in order to gain access to personal financial information for illegal gain.
"66 Federal Credit Union maintains strict security standards and procedures to prevent unauthorized access to member information, and we are doing everything possible to shut these illegal operations down as quickly as possible," said Kelly Diven, CEO of 66 Federal Credit Union.
Credit union members are advised not to respond to any phone call, e-mail or other communication asking for personal information or account numbers.
