Tulsa Mayor Kathy Taylor announced  Tuesday morning that The Eagles will be the opening act when Tulsa's new arena, the BOK Center, opens on September 6th.

Early Tuesday morning, The Eagles' website showed tickets for the September 6th concert will go on sale on July 21st.

The price of tickets for the 8:00 p.m. show has yet to be announced.  When the tickets do go on sale at 10 a.m. on July 21st, Taylor said she expects them to sell out quickly

Officials say anyone who attends the first concert at the BOK Center will receive a commemorative ticket to mark the occasion.

"We feel like it's an act that certainly appeals to everyone and crosses generations," said BOK Center general manager John Bolton.

On Monday, Oklahoma native Garth Brooks laid to rest speculation that he would be the BOK Center's opening act. Brooks will take part in the arena's opening ceremonies to be held on August 30th.

The Eagles formed in the early 1970's and during that decade released five number 1 singles and six number 1 albums. The group broke up in 1980 but reunited in 1994 and has toured off and on since then.

As Tulsa's premier sports and entertainment venue, the BOK Center will be home to the Tulsa Talons arena football team and the CHL Tulsa Oilers.

Located at 200 S. Denver in downtown Tulsa, the 18,041 seat facility is part of the Vision 2025 project and is owned by the City of Tulsa. A company called SMG will manage the $180 million dollar entertainment venue. SMG, based in Philadelphia, provides management services to more than 200 facilities. The BOK Center was designed by renowned architect Cesar Pelli.

"This BOK Center just emits the kind of energy that Tulsa is about today," said Mayor Taylor at Tuesday's announcement.

The City of Tulsa has already announced several other big acts coming to the BOK Center including Kenny Chesney and LeAnn Rimes on Sept. 10, Rascal Flatts on Sept. 25, Carrie Underwood on Oct. 29, and Celine Dion on Nov. 13.

The BOK Center will also host NBA basketball on Oct. 13 when the Houston Rockets take on the Orlando Magic. The diverse list of scheduled events also includes the Ringling Bros. Barnum and Bailey Circus.

On Monday, The BOK Center's general manager John Bolton announced a series of events leading up to the opening concert.
