More Charges Filed Against Policeman

There are new charges for a Muskogee crime scene investigator already accused of impersonating an officer and selling stolen guns.  The News On 6's Chris Wright reports Kris Ledford was charged on Monday in Wagoner County with knowingly concealing stolen property.

Ledford already faces charges in Tulsa and Muskogee Counties, and now Wagoner County has  been added to that list.

In addition to other crimes he is already accused of, Officer Kris Ledford now faces a charge of knowingly concealing stolen property.  His lawyer Chad Richardson says the charge stems from a gun he recovered earlier.

The trouble started for officer Ledford during a visit to a Tulsa Radio Shack in May.  Police say surveillance video shows Ledford with a friend who steals a police scanner.

Authorities believe the two used the scanner the next day to respond to a call about a discovered safe.

Tulsa Police say the pair claimed to be Tulsa officers and took the safe.

A search of Ledford's home later turned up at least 10 guns Muskogee Police say were taken from their property room.  Ledford is accused of selling guns for profit.

During a second search of his house last Thursday, Ledford's attorney, Chad Richardson, claims officers damaged his military awards and medals.  His lawyer says his client filed a complaint with Muskogee Police and asked for an internal investigation.

Richardson believes that the new charge in Wagoner County was filed in retaliation for Ledford's complaint.

His attorney says that Ledford was a military sniper who earned a Purple Heart and Bronze Star.  He believes the officer is suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
