The University of Tulsa's summer program "Reading Railroad" is wrapping up with a lesson in science. All summer long, kids studied different topics such as math, reading, gardening and recycling.

Wednesday's session featured TU chemistry professor Paige Johnson who helped the kids learn about chemical reactions. They learned how to make polymers or silly putty.

"We hope to give the kids a positive experience with science. Show them some fun things. Give them some great stuff to take home. And hopefully they'll grow up to be scientists," said Johnson.

The program ends next week with a back to school party. The kids range in age from kindergartners all the way to fifth graders.
