A blown tire may have caused a truck accident at state Highway 151 at U.S. Highway 412.

The accident Monday morning near Keystone Dam caused the truck, carrying sulfuric acid and bleach, to run off the road and catch fire.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol closed down U.S. Highway 412 and state Highway 151 as a precaution.

The driver of the truck told OHP troopers, he heard a pop just before the accident.  The driver was treated for minor injuries at the scene.

The truck is owned by Brainerd Chemicals.  Company officials say the truck was carrying one 225-gallon container of sulfuric acid, two 55-gallon drums of sulfuric acid; four 55-gallon drums of sodium hypochlorite (bleach); and 10 30-gallon drums of sodium hypochlorite (bleach).

Because of the chemicals, fire officials decided to let the fire burn itself out.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is investigating.

A Brainerd Chemical official said this was the first accident by their company in 50 years.
