The high temperatures have construction workers looking for ways to cool down. Crews at the fairgrounds are busy paving the new midway. With the asphalt pushing 300-degrees and the thermometer at the century mark, supervisors built a special cooling station.
It's a white tent perched around a trailer, with a fan inside hooked to a hose that blows a fine mist of water. Workers say just five minutes inside makes a huge a difference.
"They actually really love it. I mean, it's unbelievable the relief they can get by getting in here," said asphalt foreman Gary Baker.
Baker says as long as the temperatures are in the 90 or 100 degree range they'll keep the cooling station on site.
