Nationally, the cost for a gallon of regular unleaded fell for the 24th straight day, to $3.81 a gallon, but it's even cheaper in Tulsa. The News On 6's Chris Wright reports Tulsa still has the cheapest gas in the nation, and drivers in Green Country hope we continue to retain that title.

It may seem like it's been a while since gas prices were lower every time you pulled in to fill up, but that is what has happened for nearly a month. Prices have declined for 24 straight days.

In Tulsa, after hitting an all-time of $3.92 on July 18th, we found that a gallon cost in the $3.40-range at stations across town on Sunday.

Drivers of course never thought prices like $3.45 a gallon would seem like a bargain, but they say it's a trend they hope will continue.

"I wasn't expecting to see $3.43 again.  I thought we had passed that once and for all," said Joel Ogg.

"Yeah, it's helpful. It's more of a relief than anything," said Becca Scott.

A relief for Oklahomans who remain concerned about the economy.

According to our latest Oklahoma Poll, many are already tightening their budgets. Seventy-one percent are adjusting their thermostats. Fifty-seven percent are spending less on groceries, and 17% are more concerned about their job than a year ago.

Gas prices, of course, aren't making things easier.

"The type of work I do, heating and air conditioning, all over town, gas has been hurting pretty good," said Anthony McIntosh.

"There's been less driving around just for fun.  Basically just going to and from where I need to go," said Scott.

But if this trend of falling prices continues, those worries may ease at least a little bit.

While we have the cheapest prices, people in Anchorage, Alaska are still paying the most. The average price for gas there is $4.37 a gallon.
