On Sunday, the Tulsa Fire Department responded to a building fire on the second floor of the Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center located at 601 N. Main. Firefighters arrived to find fire and smoke from the second floor. Occupants of the Center had been notified and were evacuated upon arrival of Tulsa Fire.
Firefighters credit the building's sprinkler system for limiting the fire location and damage. Crews on scene were able to place the fire under control and remove smoke and water from the fire floor.
Fire Investigators were called to the scene to assist in determining the cause. Currently, the cause is listed as undetermined until additional information is gathered from the scene. A damage estimate was not available.
Occupants were placed on an MTTA Bus while firefighters worked at the scene. Red Cross, EMSA, and TPD assisted TFD Customer Service at the scene.
The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center is an 80-bed facility located at 601 N. Main. It is a spiritual based program providing work therapy and recovery assistance for men with substance abuse problems and includes programs such as Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, GED, and Bible study.
