A Tulsa teenager is swept away in high water near 5th and Mingo on Wednesday evening. The kids were playing in a whirlpool that formed after a water main break.
A 14-year-old lost her footing and was swept under. The girl rode the current through an underground storm drain. Six blocks later, she was dumped into Mingo Creek and was able to climb back onto dry land.
Rescuers say she has minor injuries, but is in good shape.
"The situation was very fortunate. However, it's very dangerous and this moving water can drag somebody away very quickly," said Tulsa Fire Captain Michael Baker.
Friends say Wednesday was the 14-year-old's birthday.
