A local highway will be shut down for the next couple weeks. Crews closed Highway 151 over Keystone Dam on Sunday. Workers will be doing routine maintenance and checking the dam for any problems.
While the Operations Manager for Keystone Lake says there's no reason to think there are problems, he says the dam is 44 years old this month and it's better to be safe than sorry.
"When we turn 44 we need a checkup and that's a part of what we're doing with the dam here," said Keystone Lake Operations Manager Kent Dunlap.
Dunlap says crews will also be drilling into the dam's core to check soil samples and add special equipment to monitor water pressure.
