Nominee Sets Off Eyewear Trend

TULSA, OK -- Sarah Palin, the Republican Vice Presidential nominee, has also become an eyeglasses fashion trend setter.  She wears a distinctive style of frames, and since her speech and the Republican National Convention, those frames have become a hot item.

Her speech served to energize the GOP, and those eyeglasses she wears energized consumers looking for something new and hip.

"People have come in and said, ‘do you have the Sarah Palin frames?'  And, we do.  That's it right there," said Daniel Brunson with Hicks Brunson Eyewear

Kawasaki 704 is the style number.  It's a titanium rimless frame, just one of many rimless frames until the convention.

"We would do one every couple of months or so, but we have done 4 or 5 since the speech on Wednesday night," said Daniel Brunson.

Of course, Hicks Brunson Eyewear is trying to make the most of it.  The Time Magazine with Governor Palin on the cover is in the window, along with the glasses.

They're Kawasaki's but not the Kawasaki that builds motorcycles.  Kazuo Kawasaki is the designer.

Governor Palin wears #34 gray temple piece color, but there are other options available.  And, the look isn't just for the ladies.

"Absolutely guy can wear this frame it's a good frame for men or women," said Daniel Brunson.

In the interest of fairness, The News On 6 would have done a story about Senator Biden or Senator Obama's glasses, too, but it appears they don't wear any.
