Local residents marked September 11 with several events across eastern Oklahoma on Thursday.

Services were held in Tulsa and other communities to remember those lost in the 9-11 attacks in New York City and Washington, D.C., and soldiers still serving overseas.

In Tulsa, a prayer vigil was held at the Unity Center of Tulsa to observe the 15th annual Unity World Day of Prayer. The Unity Center is located at 18th and Boston.

An interfaith service was held Thursday at 8:46 a.m., the time the first jetliner struck the World Trade Center. The service was at the Trinity Episcopal Church located at 501 South Cincinnati Avenue.

A one hour prayer gathering is scheduled for noon at the Civic Center Plaza, at 5th and Denver. Four Tulsa area pastors will lead prayers for 15 minutes each.

In Muskogee, residents walked to remember at the Muskogee Civic Center. The event was part of the national campaign called "America Supports Your Freedom Walk."

The walk also honored U.S. Army Major Ron Milam. Milam, a 1986 Muskogee High School graduate, who was killed when a jetliner crashed into the Pentagon in 2001.
