Political Tug-Of-War Begins

TULSA, OK -- Democrat Barack Obama is making a play for the sooner state. Tulsa is now the hub for the campaign's effort to win over Oklahoma.

It's a tug of war between red and blue, and both sides believe their camp's winning.

With just seven weeks left and the conservative base energized Republicans say they're on the right track.

"We have never, I've never seen anything like this. As far as the phone calls. Our phones are ringing off the hook for yard signs McCain and Palin yard signs," said McCain supporter, Matt Pinnell.

And history is on the GOP's side, too. Oklahoma has voted for the Republican Presidential candidate for nearly 50 years. But Senator Barack Obama who considers himself the change candidate is out to make history and he wants Tulsa to help.

"For someone to recognize that that energy is worth and those people are worthy and he values our dedication to put an office here and say show me what you can do.  See what you can do. Here's your piece of the pie, take and do what you can with it," said Obama supporter, Amy Nguyen.

Seven-year-old Knox McCollough made his mom travel from Claremore to get his slice of the political pie.

"I wanted some buttons and I wanted to spread the word because I think Barack Obama can really change the future of kids and all around in the state of America," said Knox McCollough.

"We're trying to spread the message in Claremore and all around Green Country about Barack Obama we think he's the best remedy for what's going wrong in the country these days," said Leslie McCollough.

But Republicans have been working to debunk those beliefs. Armed with pink power, they're fighting to keep Oklahoma red.

"We're signing more people up than we have before as well so very excited about it," said Pinnell.

And this is crunch time for both parties. Both are organizing new volunteers who will hit the street canvassing for their candidate.
