TULSA, OK -- A landmark Tulsa company is celebrating a major milestone.  QuikTrip has called Tulsa home for the past 50 years.  The company opened its first store on South Peoria on September 25, 1958.  To celebrate its many years of success, QuikTrip is throwing a birthday bash and all of Green Country is invited.

QuikTrip organized the FREE celebration as a way to say 'thank you' to the many customers who helped support the company over the years.  QuikTrip's 50th Anniversary Festival is Saturday, September 20, at River West Festival Park, 2100 S. Jackson, and offers something for the entire family.

Leon Russell and Oklahoma's own Hanson headline the entertainment for the festivities.  Other music guests include:

  • Uche and The Crash
  • Little Chair
  • Crooked X
  • Rattle & Hum
  • Mid Life Crisis
  • South 40
  • Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey

Aside from great entertainment, QuikTrip's 50th Anniversary Festival offers a variety of concession vendors.  The QuikTrip mobile kitchen will also be stocked with a variety of fresh QT sandwiches, wraps, salads, and fruit cups.  Two beer tents will be available for adults.

Kids are also welcome to attend the festivities.  The Wally Kid Zone will be open throughout the festival with inflatable play equipment and other fun activities.  Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Everyone can enjoy a spectacular fireworks show. Almost twice as many fireworks as Tulsa's annual 4th of July celebration will light up the night sky on Saturday!

Because QuikTrip expects so many guests, Veterans Park, 1875 South Boulder, will open at 11 a.m. All bands will be simulcast on a big screen and the fireworks will be visible from this location as well.

Parking near River West Festival Park is limited, however, a FREE shuttle service is being provided from the Tulsa Fairgrounds. Parking at the Fairgrounds will be in the lot directly west of the QuikTrip Center. The cross streets for parking are 21st and Louisville. Shuttles will run from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.

As fun as the festivities will be in person, Green Country residents can also enjoy the fun from the comfort of their living rooms.  The News On 6 and CW 12/19 are proud to partner with QuikTrip for this celebration.  Oklahoma's very own CW 12/19 will broadcast the festival sights and sounds from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.   News On 6 anchor Terry Hood will be there to welcome the crowd and kick-off TV coverage of the event.  She'll also introduce Leon Russell.  SKYNEWS 6 with SteadiZoom 360 will also be on display.

The QuikTrip 50th Anniversary Festival is free to the public, but festival-goers will need a ticket to get in.  They're available at Tulsa area QuikTrip stores.
