Going Out In Style

A woman's final wish comes true Wednesday.

Before Ruby Pickard died, she asked her daughter for two things at her funeral, a horse-drawn carriage and a Dixieland band behind it. Wednesday, she had both.

Family members also followed from the funeral home to the Tulsa gravesite.

"I just wanted to give her a sendoff that would be memorable and fitting for her, even though it was totally contradictory to her life because she was so quiet. But she would have loved it," said Ruby's daughter Jan Gordon.

Ruby Pickard was laid to rest Wednesday afternoon at Memorial Park Cemetery at 51st and Memorial.
