Stadium Trustees Get City Council Nod

The Tulsa City Council voted on Thursday night to approve a board of trustees to oversee the city's new downtown ballpark.

TULSA, OK -- The Tulsa City Council voted on Thursday night to approve a board of trustees to oversee the city's new downtown ballpark.

The vote was unanimous to approve the trust agreement to build the downtown ballpark. With an audience dressed in Drillers' jerseys, there was plenty of momentum behind the vote.

Half of the money for the $60 million stadium development will be donated. A board of trustees will oversee it.

The members are: Kathy Taylor, the Mayor of Tulsa; Steve Malcom, CEO of Williams; Glen Stroebel, the President of OK Machine Company; Larry Lyon, the owner of Lyon's Indian Store; Reuben Gant, Director of the Greenwood Community Development Corporation; James Adelson, President of Nadel & Gussman; John Kelly Warren, the CEO of the Warren Foundation; Arlo DeKraai, the CEO of InServ and Stan Lybarger, the President of Bank of Oklahoma.

Drillers Owner Chuck Lamson says he's ready to get the team moved in.

The next step is clearing land in the Greenwood district and building the stadium, which will open in the Spring of 2010.
