TULSA, OK -- Three years ago, Sean Hurst contracted MRSA, a deadly staph infection, and died.

Since his death, thousands of junior high and high school students have honored him by taking part in the Sean Hurst Memorial Run at the Creek County Fairgrounds.

On Thursday, students from 34 different schools took part.

"I always say if love and support could have saved him, he'd still be here because the community gave a lot of support to our family," said Sean's grandmother, June Hurst.

Sean was an avid runner, placing 25th as a sophomore in the 2005 State Cross Country Meet.
