TULSA, OK -- With the weather so perfect on Saturday, thousands headed out to the Tulsa State Fair.

Weekends at the fair are jam-packed with activities. On Saturday, you could see everything from an international cake decorating contest to pigs racing for the ultimate treat.

There were 600 wedding cakes and it had nothing to do with love. It's the Wedding Cake Competition at the state fair. Bakers strutted their stuff for $25,000 and for bragging rights.

"As one of them said one year, I felt like Miss America when I won," said Show Director Kerry Vincent.

She could have worn a sugar crown or accepted a sugar rose. The cakes looked so real, people from around the country come out to look.

"Two round trip plane tickets and then hotel accommodations to buy two, $8 tickets just to come to the fair and see the sugar arts show? That's not bad," said Vincent.

Every cake told a different story. Some of the cakes were gigantic. Other cakes were creative. Still, other cakes are just plain old colorful. So, how do you figure out what kind of cake is a winner?

"To do this caliber of work and painting, to get all these brilliant colors, and all the shading. It's just phenomenal," said Judge Laurel Silverberg.

Silverberg came from Arizona to help pick a winner.

"It's design, it's color, its blending all those together to tell a story. It should be very pleasing to the eye," said Silverberg.

The pigs were a sight for sore eyes. Hundreds come for the cakes, hundreds hold out for the hogs.

"I think it's just real entertaining. The kids love it and the announcer is just hysterical," said Grant Stewart.

"We run Dolly Porkin', Billy Ray Swinerus, Swinenona Judd," said Pig Racing Announcer Charles Boger.

They race for glory in the form of a single, Oreo cookie.

"If we can come out here and make kids happy, and make adults grin and chuckle a little bit, we've done our jobs," said Boger.

From sugar to swine, the fair's got something for everybody.

There are plenty of other activities and contests going on this weekend.

The pig races will be going on throughout the weekend and the winners for the wedding cake contest will be announced Sunday.
