SAND SPRINGS, OK -- A Boys and Girls Club is getting spruced up thanks to some volunteer work.

About 75 Cox Communications employees spent Friday doing projects at the Sand Springs club on South 129th West Avenue.  The cable company workers observed Cox Connects Day by doing some needed yard work.

For the past five years, the Tulsa-area Cox office has volunteered to help different Boys and Girls Clubs.

"This is just one of the programs we do with the Salvation Army. I think it's probably the most fun ones we do.  And, today it's a gorgeous day, so it's a great time to be out here.  If you're basically replacing boards on a bench to painting to weeding to cleaning stuff up," said John Bowen with Cox Communications.

Cox Connects Day is a national program specifically benefiting The Boys and Girls Club.
