TULSA, OK -- A Tulsa teenager, a high school senior, was run over and killed Saturday morning. Witnesses said it appeared two cars were drag racing just before the deadly crash.

Police continue to investigate the driver, checking to see if alcohol and speed were factors in the crash.

The young girl who was killed, was walking down the street in her neighborhood when she was run over near 1900 West Easton Place.

Paulette Schultz knows what happened, but doesn't understand it.

"She was such a good, good girl," said Schultz.

Her daughter, 18-year-old Stefanie Andrews, was run over and killed three blocks from home.

"Minute by minute, we just take it as it comes, that's all we can do," said Schultz.

Stefanie was walking home from a friend's house early Saturday when a speeding car topped the hill.

The 20-year-old driver, Marlin Tanner, lost control and his car ran over Stephanie. Police say Tanner was seriously injured. They're waiting for blood tests to see if he was drinking.

Friends of Stefanie's, like Stephen Yee, are leaving flowers at the spot where she died.

"I'm still hoping I'm going to wake up," said Yee.

He and Stefanie were life-long friends.

"And I'm just going to miss her," said Yee.

The neighbors who live on Easton Street say young people race cars on the hilly road and not just at night.

"You really have to watch out because they don't even slow down when they see you," said Martha Dowling.

Stefanie was a senior at Washington High School. She liked knitting and taking pictures. She wanted to be a nurse. But that was the future.

For now she was focused on working at Braum's and enjoying her senior year at Washington.

"She knew in 3rd grade she wanted to go there.  She said Mom, I'm going to go to Carver, and then BTW and she did it," said Schultz.

With the funeral plans made, Stefanie's mother is left to cry and wonder, why?

The funeral is set for Wednesday evening at Nogales Avenue Baptist Church in Tulsa.

The driver has not been charged with anything this early in the investigation. He's facing surgery for compound fractures to both ankles, and other broken bones.

UPDATE:

A memorial fund has now been established to help Stefanie Andrews' family.  Donations can be mailed or dropped off at:
