TULSA, OK -- Organizers spend a whole year planning Tulsa's Oktoberfest. The event set-up takes just about two weeks and 1,500 volunteers to get it all ready.

This is the 30th year for the event. It kicks off Wednesday night with Corporate night. Corporate night is a special preview of Tulsa's Oktoberfest prior to the event opening to the public.

There are more than 100 arts and crafts booths, 15 food stands and a full carnival. You can also enjoy live music. The event will feature local talent as well as three bands from Germany.

Organizers say the event is a great time for the whole family. But, some may be a little concerned after what happened last year.

Oktoberfest got off to a rocky start last year when severe weather ripped through the area, knocking down tents and injuring several people.

"We can do everything right all year round and weather can still throw us a loop, but we're ready for it," said Executive Director of Oktoberfest Incorporated, Laurie Smith.

Smith says they had emergency plans in place last year and this year is no different. She says they have reinforcements ready to go and safety is a priority.
