Waiting In Line To Vote

TULSA, OK - The lines at polling places across northeastern Oklahoma were long Tuesday morning and election officials expect those same lines to be long right up to 7 p.m.  So far today, Oklahoma voters are experiencing few problems other than the wait to vote.   

The polls opened at 7 a.m. and will close at 7 p.m. 

Election officials say for the most part, everything has been going smoothly. 

In Tulsa County, about 15 precinct polling locations have reported ballot jams, but Shelly Boggs with the Tulsa County Election Board says that is more human error than machine. 

"Voters just need to really help us and not put both ballots at the same time in the machine. It will make our lives totally, totally better. Please," said Shelly Boggs, assistant secretary Tulsa County Election Board. 

Boggs says those jammed machines have either been fixed or are being fixed. 

Election officials expect record voter turnout.  The 2004 presidential election in Oklahoma brought out a record 1.46 million voters to the polls.
