UNDATED -- A Claremore runner who died during the Route 66 half-marathon was laid to rest Thursday afternoon.

Kjell Tovander collapsed Sunday just feet from a medical tent and couldn't be revived.

He was 21-years-old and had spent three years studying engineering at M.I.T. He had recently passed a physical to join the Navy just a few months ago.
