TULSA, OK -- A woman is behind bars after a daring attempt to steal a truck overnight on Tuesday in east Tulsa. Officers with the Tulsa Police Department say the only reason she didn't get away with it is because of the quick response of the truck's owner.

Police say a guy was driving home from work when he pulled into a QuikTrip at 215 North Garnett to get a drink. He left his truck running.

When he got inside the QuikTrip, he heard his truck being revved up and realized somebody was trying to steal his car.

Alonzo Johnson ran outside, saw his truck pulling out of a parking space and says he knew he had to act.

"I was in QuikTrip trying to get something to drink before I went home for the night and then I saw a white female jump in my truck. And I guess I went ahead and did one of those heroic moves. I jumped in the back and I tried to get my vehicle back," said the truck's owner, Alonzo Johnson.

Meanwhile the suspect, who police have identified as 18-year-old Trenity Sue Baker, was still driving away with Johnson fighting for his truck. He broke the back window and climbed into it. Police say Baker hit a parked car.

Police say Baker jumped out and was picked up by her boyfriend in another car.

Records indicate Baker was booked in the Tulsa Jail on complaints of larceny of an automobile and leaving the scene of property damage . Her boyfriend has been released.

Police say the moral of this story is don't leave your keys in the car. It's easy, convenient and warm to leave the car running, but they say you need to protect your property.
