Authorities Still Searching For Tulsa Fugitive

TULSA, OK -- Interpol is helping look for a Tulsa fugitive. Contrary to local media reports, 59-year-old Ronald Lyons is not in custody in Paris or anywhere else.

Lyons is a former Broken Arrow school teacher who was arrested and convicted of taking pornographic photos of female teenage students in 1987.

"There were multiple photos, multiple victims and it's a case that we spent a considerable amount of time," said TCSO Chief Deputy George Haralson.

Lyons was sentenced to nine years in prison, but was released on bond during his appeal.

His conviction was upheld and he was ordered to show up for prison, but he never did and he's been on the run since.

The U.S. attorney's office recently requested international help finding Lyons, since investigators believe he's living outside the country, based on previous tips to America's Most Wanted.

Interpol in Paris requested Lyons' picture and fingerprints so if they do make an arrest, they'll have a way to confirm his identity.

The Tulsa County district attorney's office sent a letter to the Officer of International Affairs in Washington, D.C., agreeing they would extradite Lyons back to Oklahoma to serve his sentence, if he is caught.
