UNDATED - Two Green Country companies, Gerdau Ameristeel in Sand Springs and Zeledyne in Tulsa, are feeling the effects of the economy.
A union vice president tells The News On 6 about 150 union workers at Gerdau Ameristeel in Sand Springs will lose their jobs at Christmas.
Right now there are about 310 union workers at the company, formerly known as Sheffield Steel.
A plant manager confirmed there will be layoffs, but couldn't be specific about how many people would be affected.
In Tulsa, a company that makes windshields for Ford won't comment about layoffs, but The News On 6 has confirmed Zeledyne has shut down one of its furnaces.
A spokeswoman says the plant will run at half capacity until the auto industry recovers.
