TULSA, OK -- Some Tulsa elementary students will be warmer this winter thanks to the Knittin' Kittens.

The group of volunteers from the Retired Senior Volunteer Program has spent the past year knitting and crocheting 1,900 hats and scarves.  On Thursday, they gave one of each out to every student at McClure Elementary.

The Knittin' Kittens have been donating their time and talents to this project for the past three years.  Organizers say it's worth all the work to see the students' happy faces.

"Oh, it's just wonderful because they get so excited picking their favorite color or one that they really like that's soft.  It's just so much fun," said RSVP volunteer coordinator Gary Ann Tomkalski.

Items will also be donated to a number of children at a few other Tulsa schools including Lanier and Owen Elementary.
