TULSA, OK -- For the last 12 years Stutts House of Barbecue has silently delivered Christmas meals to dozens of elderly people stuck at home.

But this year they say they want to deliver more meals and more cheer than ever before.

"I was reared in the country, from Jackson, Mississippi, and I loved going to visit my grandmother," said Almead Hill Stutts.

When Stutts opened Stutts House of Barbecue in Tulsa 16 years ago she wanted it to be a reflection of her family and now, as Christmas draws closer, she's looking to her family recipes to create a perfect holiday menu.

"We try to create the dishes that our mothers and grandmothers and other parents, you know, would cook when we were growing up," said Stutts.

But the dishes are not for the Stutts family. It's a holiday meal for anyone in Tulsa who needs it, specifically people who will be stuck at home on Christmas without one.

"Being a shut in you cannot do for yourself. You can't get out and go places and small things like food. You can't even fix your own food," said Stutts.

Stutts has enlisted the help of the women's group, Order of the Eastern Star. These women have already raised money for the food and Thursday will give up part of their Christmas to help prepare and deliver meals to those in need.

"Christmas is more than sitting home with family. I have learned that if you reach out Christmas is more important," said Charlotte Bates.

This year they're hoping to reach out to a record number of people and they say the pleasure is all theirs.

"I have no doubt. When these meals are delivered there will be a reception beyond compare. And also I will be more blessed than they will be," said Bates.

"So this makes us feel good to know that we're doing something to brighten someone else's Christmas," said Stutts.

If you or someone you know is going to be stuck alone at home this Christmas with no meal, the ladies want to know about them.

You can put them on the list by calling Stutts House of Barbecue at 918-428-2355 now through Christmas Eve.

The meals will be delivered between noon and 1 p.m. Christmas Day.
