TULSA, OK -- News On 6 meteorologist Dick Faurot spent time Wednesday giving a gift you won't find under the Christmas tree.
Faurot donated platelets to the American Red Cross.
Those platelets will be used within five days by a burn victim or cancer patient. Platelets have a very short shelf life, which means they're always in short supply.
"Where else in our society can you safe somebody's life by giving an hour of your time?" said American Red Cross spokesperson Jan Hall.
Dick Faurot says it's not a bad deal. They pay you in banana bread!
