Thunderstorms Knock Out Power To Thousands

A line of thunderstorms that rumbled across Oklahoma knocked out power to more than 5,000 customers.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A line of thunderstorms that rumbled across Oklahoma knocked out power to more than 5,000 customers.

Oklahoma Gas & Electric, the state's largest utility, reported about 5,300 customers were without power early Saturday. More than 3,400 of those were in the Oklahoma City metropolitan area. Other outages were reported in Bristow, Chandler, Drumright and Seminole.

Tulsa-based Public Service Company of Oklahoma reported only 300 outages early Saturday, most of those in far northeastern and far southeastern Oklahoma.

Strong winds tore down some power lines at 193rd East Avenue early Saturday.

A line of thunderstorms crossed the state early Saturday, producing heavy rainfall, hail and wind gusts up to 70 miles per hour.
