OOLOGAH, OK -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is hoping for a mild winter so it can do some work on Oologah Lake.

The corps needs to stabilize the bank near the lake's spillway.  Heavy rains forced the corps to open the spillway many times over the last two years, which has washed away the bank.

The corps hopes to make repairs before the spring rains, to keep the erosion from affecting private property nearby.  The spillway is a back-up to the gates in the dam and had only been used a few times over the decades, until two years ago.
