House Fire Kills 2 Atoka Brothers

ATOKA, Okla. (AP) -- An early morning house fire that swept through a home in Atoka has killed two brothers.

Atoka Fire Chief Donnie Allen says 57-year-old Johnny Anderton and 51-year-old Ricky Anderton were the only members of a large family who did not make it out of the burning two-story home early Sunday.

About 10 other family members evacuated safely. Allen says investigators are still trying to find out why the brothers couldn't escape.

The fire started about midnight, and Allen says its cause remains under investigation. A stiff north wind fueled the fire and prevented crews from saving the house.
