TULSA, OK -- The ball's bouncing and this year it's in Memorial's court. The Chargers were the surprise 6A state champs last season. This time around, they're favored to repeat.

"The tide has changed a little bit," said Memorial coach Eric Savage. "Last year we were the underdogs with the inexperienced team. We're more of the hunted this year instead of the hunter."

"I feel like we've got a big target on us," said senior forward Dominick Cornelius. "Everyone wants to beat us now since (what we did) last year."

The Chargers have surged to not only be the team to beat in the state, but in the country. Memorial is nationally ranked in the USA Today Super 25 prep poll.

"If anytime you're making that it's a credit to your program," Savage said. "The notoriety is nice but I don't know if you can get a realistic judge on those things sometimes."

What Memorial wants to be known for is its theme this season: never being satisfied until they hoist the gold ball again.

"We just have to keep egging on each other and working harder and harder," Cornelius said. "You can never be at a certain spot. You always want to push yourself more."

"You can never be satisfied," said senior guard Austin Lucas. "If you get satisfied you won't work hard to get where we got last year with that state championship."
