TULSA, OK -- Sad Sooner fans are still shaking their heads at Thursday's heartbreaking championship loss.  OU fell to the Florida Gators 24 to 14, even with this year's Heisman Trophy winner at the helm.  The loss rekindles talk of an old sports legend:  the Heisman Curse.

The BCS blow had Sooner Country shrouded in sadness.  The somber tone carried over the airwaves at  AM-1430 The Buzz.

The OU Sooners had this year's Heisman Trophy winner on their side.  But, the crushing defeat has some wondering, if there's anything to the old sports legend that winning the bronze statue steals your chance at the crystal ball.

"If there was anything about the Heisman jinx last night. This is the second time, right, that O-U's Heisman winner has faced yet another Heisman winner and come up short," said Don King of The Buzz.

Sam Bradford's Heisman comes five years after another Sooner, Jason White, won the trophy, but not the title.

But is it coincidence or curse?

"Sports fans love excuses," said Scott Smith, The News On 6 Sports.  There's no curses. There's no Boston Red Sox Curse, no Yankees Curse, no Heisman Curse. It's just something the fans love to talk about."

The Buzz's Don King won't call it a jinx.

"I think there's some distractions to it. I think anytime you win the Heisman. You have a couple of weeks of distractions. Sam talked to Jason White and he told him to just concentrate on the game. But, I think that's almost impossible to do," said Don King of The Buzz.

But the sports experts are quick to point out, the guy who walked away with the crystal ball and the title this year, also has some hardware.

In the last 10 years, seven Heisman trophy winners have played in the championship game.  Six of the seven lost the title game.  The lone exception is USC's Matt Leinart.
