TULSA, OK -- Looking to the Bible for financial advice is the idea behind a new book compiled by several professors at Oral Roberts University.

They say King Solomon and the Book of Proverbs could hold the answers to help our economy in crisis.

King Solomon is a massive figure in the Old Testament. His enormous wealth and power have influenced followers for thousands of years.

Now comes the book, "Solomon Was A Businessman." ORU professor Ardith Baker is one of the driving forces behind it.

"It's not really a book about how to get rich in this world, but it's a book about how to live a life of integrity," said Ardith Baker, ORU Professor.

Baker was joined by fellow ORU faculty members David Dyson and Chris Putman, as well as other contributors from across the country to use King Solomon's teaching in a 21st century economy.

"So we've written these devotions to not only share with business people, but everyday people to encourage them and to give them a little bit of wisdom to make good decisions," said Baker.

Baker and the other writers say King Solomon can be used as an example to follow in everyday life.

"Integrity, the honesty, and refusing to gossip, refusing to backstab," said Chris Putman, ORU Professor.

They also say the decisions Solomon made about who to do business with are just as important.

"But if we know of practices and things that we don't approve of and then we go buy their product, all we're saying is 'Keep doing it, it's okay.' We want the cheaper price rather than we want the good ethic," said David Dyson, ORU Professor.

The authors hope readers rediscover the good book and message written thousands of years ago that may be timeless.

"Even though they were written a long time ago, they're very timely today. So a lot of his proverbs are the basis for very good advice for making good decisions," said Baker.

The book is available online.
