TULSA, OK -- The 34th-ranked University of Tulsa women's tennis team opened the season with a 7-0 win over Arkansas-Little Rock, and a 4-0 victory against Oral Roberts on Saturday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
In the first match against Arkansas-Little Rock, the Hurricane swept through doubles competition picking up three wins, highlighted by Alexandra Kichoutkin and Marta Marcinkowska's 8-2 win over UALR's Chantel Coolen and Anne Weijenborg in the No. 1 position.
Tulsa dominated in singles losing only one set in all six singles matches combined. Alexandra Kichoutkin picked up a 6-0, 6-0, win over Anne Weijenborg in No. 1 singles, and Anastasia Erofeeva knocked off Rebecca Van Den Hout, 6-0, 6-0, in No. 5 singles.
The Hurricane dispatched of Oral Roberts in similar fashion in the second match of the day, winning two doubles matches and a pair of singles matches for a 4-0 win.
Kichoutkin and Marcinkowska defeated Hayden Rush and Rafaela Souza, 8-0, in No. 1 doubles, and Caroline Beaulieu and Thalia Diaz-Barriga swept past Ana Costa and Corrine Langston 8-0 in No. 2 doubles.
In singles, Jie Zeng defeated Ana Costa, 6-0, 6-0, in the No. 3 slot, while Caroline Beaulieu swept Taylor Wade, 6-0, 6-0, in the No. 5 position.
Tulsa is back in action on January 24 against UMKC in Fayetteville, Ark.
