UNDATED -- A lot of Oklahomans are in Washington. They're ready to watch Barack Obama be sworn in as the nation's first black president.

They spent months hoping they could go, but the Union Public Schools Junior ROTC cadets only found out at Christmas they could go to the Inaugural parade.

They packed last Friday and left on a bus for Washington, where Monday they spent most of the day sightseeing.

The students took cell phone pictures of the Washington Monument and other sites along the National Mall.

The students watched the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknowns. They spent some time at the World War II Memorial.

They also practiced marching with the Oklahoma flag they'll carry in the inaugural parade.

The cadets will march along with groups from every state.

A soldier from Broken Arrow, Private Shaun Elizondo, will march in a group of paratroopers from Fort Bragg. He's stationed in North Carolina, where a television station interviewed him about the honor.

Tulsa State Representative Jabar Shumate is also in Washington.

NewsOn6.com is making it easy to watch Barack Obama's inauguration ceremony from your computer. On Tuesday morning look for the live streaming banner on our homepage.
