RAMONA, OK -- Driving conditions are treacherous along Highway 75 in Washington County.  At times traffic along the highway has been at a standstill as some cars slid off the road and others struggled to get up some of the hills.

In and around Bartlesville, police and ambulance crews have been responding to dozens of wrecks.  Two women with babies in car seats were in one car that lost control on an icy bridge on Frank Phillips Boulevard and slammed head-on into a car.  The driver of the second car is in serious condition.

Bartlesville Police say conditions deteriorated rapidly.

"This is typical of what happens in northeastern Oklahoma.  The roads won't be iced up, but bridges and overpasses get really slick.  The road is so slick right now.  It's so slick, it's hard to stand on," said Bartlesville Police Captain Scott Owen.

State transportation crews will work around the clock sanding trouble spots.  They'll give priority to highly traveled roads, highways and intersections.
