OKLAHOMA CITY -- Details of six-year-old Denis Anderson's muder were released in an affidavit Wednesday.

Denise was killed February 1, and her father Matthew Peoples was charged with first-degree murder.

In the affidavit, the actions of Matthew Peoples are outlined, describing how he shot his daughter in the head.

Read Matthew People's affidavit outlining the events surrounding Denise Anderson's murder.

"It's hard, I mean, she was a baby," Denise's cousin Lakeishia Freeman said. "She was innocent in all of this. She loved her daddy even though he wasn't around all that often. She loved him, and that's why it's hard to understand why."

District Attorney Rob Hudson said he was also affected by the six-year-olds murder.

The case affects not just the family, but also district attorney Rob Hudson. Hudson was present as Peoples went before the judge on the charge of first degree murder.

According the court affidavit, Peoples said he was playing with Denise in his bedroom and "Denise got mad at him" because he was playing too rough. Denise then went into the front room to play with a toy car.

At that point, court documents said Peoples got a rifle out of his mother in law's bedroom.

He said he had "messed with the gun the prior day" and "had loaded a round in the chamber of the gun". He then "pointed the gun at Denise" "pulled the trigger" and "shot Denise in the head."

"Our allegations are that he deliberately pointed at his daughter and pulled the trigger," Hudson said.

According to the affidavit, Peoples then "wrapped Denise in a pink blanket" and dumped her body in the trees next to the track at Spencer High School. OSBI found the rifle, a 22 caliber casing and blood on the carpet in Peoples' home.

"Anytime you visit a crime scene in a homicide, it's a sobering feeling, particularly in this case when the victim was a young person" Hudson said.

Peoples' family said they believe Denise's death was an accidental shooting.

Peoples is in jail, being held without bond and is scheduled to appear in court in March.
