Tulsa Firefighters Pass EMT Retest

TULSA, OK -- Fire officials say all 138 firefighters in the department have completed Medical Protocol testing and the department achieved a 100% pass rate.

In a news release from the Tulsa Fire Department, the testing began on Monday and wrapped up on Wednesday and was administered by the Office of the Medical Director.

Fire officials say the tests consisted of 50 questions for Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) and 150 questions for firefighters licensed as a Paramedic.

Tulsa Fire Chief Allen LaCroix praised firefighters for the outstanding test results.

"The true test of the character of any organization happens during a time of adversity. Firefighters have shown without a doubt our citizens have not been, or will ever be, at risk because of the care they receive from a firefighter," said Chief Allen LaCroix.

LaCroix say a rule, firefighters have to take the test every two years as a part of their EMT skills refresher training. However, the city requested everyone in the fire department take the test this week.

In addition, the Tulsa Fire Department is developing an ethics education program for fire personnel.
