Burn Bans In Effect Across Oklahoma

Posted: Updated:

Associated Press

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Officials in 46 Oklahoma counties scattered statewide have issued burn bans because of dry conditions, low humidity and strong winds.

In addition to the bans there was also a Red Flag fire warning, meaning there is high wildfire danger, in effect until 6 p.m. Monday for seven counties in northeastern Oklahoma.

Those counties included Okfuskee, Okmulgee, Creek, Tulsa, Washington, Osage, and Pawnee.

Officials say despite Monday morning rainfall across the state, the weather conditions are causing vegetation to dry out very quickly.
